7 Steps to Create a Coaching Program: 1st in a Series

Teleseminars, webinars, and other live programs have many benefits. You can work with more people in less time, increase your income, and often record all or part of the paid event or series to offer for sale on your website. People who need your help but don’t have the budget or schedule for your live events or one-to-one services will be happy to buy your recordings. Here are seven steps to create a coaching program series that will attract your ideal clients.

1. Select a topic for the series based on your clients’ needs and your expertise. For example, I’m planning a workshop series on how to write an e-book.

2. Think about how you can use your event to help your clients succeed. Use your experiences with clients and ask them.

3. Plan ways for participants to interact with you and with each other during the event in order for your event to impact and even change your clients. For example, I'm planning mini coaching sessions, question and answer periods, and brainstorming in my six-week program.

4. Avoid giving a lot of information. Provide background information and how-to’s in handouts or downloadable readings, audios, or videos.

5. Plan ways for participants to interact outside of the event. For example, you can use your own membership site or a private Facebook group where people can ask questions, share experiences, and celebrate successes between sessions or after your event.

6. If you have a one- or two-day event, plan a teleconference to follow up in one, two, or three months to see how people are doing, find out what else they may need, and celebrate how far they’ve come in their projects or their lives.

7. Plan a free pre-event teleconference or webinar to provide valuable content from the paid event, give people a chance to get to know you, and to introduce them to your paid event. Give them real information they need to develop their projects or make life changes. Then, describe your paid event and its benefits, and give them a link to a special website page that tells them more and links them to registration and payment pages.

Questions for Reflection and Comment

  • What event would benefit your clients?
  • What is it’s purpose?
  • How do you envision that event? What will you do? How long will it be?
  • How often will you hold it? One time? Several times over some weeks or months?
